Objectives & Results

A fleet management and passenger information system for land transport (buses and trolleybuses) with the aim of optimizing the performance and quality of the transportation service provided. In particular, the results are:

For the Passenger

  1. Real Time Information System
  2. Passengers’ electronic info signs at 1,000 “Smart” Stops
  3. Passengers’ info inside the vehicle about the progress of the Route through Screen and Audio Announcement
  4. Informing Public Transport Passengers via smartphone app and website (web) about the planned and executed transportation service
  5. Availability of Service at all Public Transportation stops.
  6. Alerts on Service Disruption events
  7. Reduction of waiting time at the stops & total travel time
  8. Improving the quality of travel by utilizing vehicle traffic data

For the Transport Authority and the Operators

  1. Qualitative and quantitative upgrading of services provided to passengers (reliability, accuracy, information)
  2. Optimal management of the Vehicle fleet using an Automated Positioning System (Vehicle GPS) for real-time updates
  3. Dynamic Supervision and Ex-ante/Ex-post Analysis for the transportation service
  4. Two-way wireless communication between management (dispatch) center and drivers
  5. Update drivers on scheduled changes by sending dispatcher instructions and commands in real time
  6. Increasing staff safety by providing a communication system with multiple alternatives (voice, text, emergency silent alarm).
