Collaboration of OASA with Intercity Bus Company (KTEL) of Attica on the regional routes.


The transport service in the region of Attica shall be strengthened by the addition of 200 city buses.
Important improvement of the route time throughout the network falling within the competence of OASA.

OASA announces that as of Thursday 1 October, the collaboration with the Intercity Bus Company (KTEL) of Attica.

This collaboration is included in the broader planning for immediate enhancement of the Athens urban transport and the improvement of level of service to passengers, serving the public interest with respect to addressing the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

By assigning the operation of regional routes to the Intercity Bus Company (KTEL) of Attica:
– The system of the urban transport falling within the competence of OASA shall be strengthened by the addition of 200 vehicles and 550 more drivers on a daily basis.
– 100% of the scheduled routes shall be achieved with improved journey times.
– The waiting time at the stops across the OASA network shall be reduced.
The first of the sixty total lines assigned are: “504: Thrakomakedones- Dekeleia Railway Station- Kifissia” and “740: Olympic Village- SKA- Acharnes- Agia Anna”.

The journey time of both routes will be considerably improved by 5 and 17.5 minutes respectively.

By the operation of both lines by the Intercity Bus Company (KTEL) of Attica, OSY saves vehicles that will be used for the further enhancement of transport services in lines with heavy passenger traffic downtown Athens and, in particular, in the following lines: “732 Agios Fanourios- Halkokondyli”, “A8 Polytechneio- N. Ionia- Maroussi”, “235: Zografou- Akadimia” and “220- 221: Ano Ilissia- Akadimia”.
SECOND PHASE: Date of implementation Monday 5/10/2020
On Monday 5 October, more buses of the Intercity Bus Company (KTEL) shall be added in the urban transport system, by the assignment of the following lines: “123: Saronida- Anavyssos- Palaia Fokaia”, “171: Elliniko Metro Station- Varkiza”, “323: Agios Nikolaos- Agia Kyriaki- Vrayrona Elliniko Station- Spata- Artemis”, “310: Marathonas- Nea Makri- Rafina” and “330: Koropi- Agia Marina”.
By the implementation of the second phase, the vehicles saved will strengthen the lines that need to be enhanced.
As part of the pressing need to address the impact of coronavirus, the KTEL vehicles will immediately join the urban transport system, while the telematics and e-ticketing equipment will be gradually added to these vehicles.
In the coming period the next phases will follow, so that the OASA fleet, through the collaboration with the Intercity Bus Company, be strengthened by the addition of 200 vehicles and 550 drivers in total, who will provide transport services in 60 regional lines.

Additionally, by the end of 2020, 300 vehicles will be added through leasing to the OASA fleet.
